DIY Bug Hotel – $5 per person

Our last one went so well, we thought we'd do it again! Our event image was supplied by Claudia and Wolfgang - two of our carers who attended the last bug hotel event.

This workshop will teach you how to make your own bug hotel. Do something good for you and for the environment! Not only will you get the satisfaction of making something yourself, you’re also creating a home for insects that are beneficial to your backyard and our ecosystem as a whole!

Don’t be put off by the need for nails and a hammer – creating your own bug hotel is incredibly easy, and you’ll be so satisfied when insects start moving in to your hotel!

We will provide a pack containing the following:

  • 5 x Pieces of wood (to make the hotel)
  • 16 x Nails
  • Bamboo
  • Timber with drill holes

You will need:

  • Hammer
  • Assorted garden material (sticks, leaves, pinecones, bark) – If you would like to attract certain insects, have a look online to see which types of “hotel rooms”/garden material suits the insects you would like to attract

One of our volunteers will hand-deliver your bug hotel pack to you. To allow us time to get packs together and arrange delivery, ticket sales will close on 08/10/2020. Please ensure you are within 20kms of Ringwood North for delivery purposes. Please e-mail info@idareu.org.au if you have any questions.

Please note: Our online Carers Hubs will be held as a Zoom meeting. Please ensure you provide your e-mail address when purchasing a ticket as your Zoom link will be sent via e-mail within 48 hours of the event.

Do you provide care for a loved one? Our events are funded by DHHS Victoria and are for unpaid carers in the community to connect with other carers and learn tips and tricks to make life a little easier.
